Behind the Scenes of Ruth & Alex's Wedding Day at Stanlake Park, Berkshire

Every now and then, I get to film a wedding that’s just... unique. Not just in the “this venue is pretty” kind of way, but in the way I feel on the day. Ruth and Alex's day at the stunning Stanlake Park, with Sri Lankan traditions, cricket on the lawn and a couple that brought all of the good vibes. Let’s rewind...
I headed up the day before, because filming a wedding isn’t just about showing up with a camera, it’s about being ready. I checked into a Premier Inn, enjoyed a surprisingly good gluten-free dinner and got a good night's sleep to prep for the day ahead.
Morning came and with a decent breakfast in my belly, I made my way over to the venue feeling excited and so ready for the energy that I knew this day would bring.
Stanlake Park was already buzzing when I arrived. First stop? Cinematic establishing shots of the unique ceremony space, on their pre-wedding call Alex described their ceremony set up as a 'pokeball' layout and seeing it in real life made me wonder why more people aren't doing this!
I headed over to catch the Bride getting ready (those shots always hit different) before nipping over to film the Groom and his party who were full of big laughs and the good kind of nerves.
As well as the unqiue physical set up of the ceremony space, Alex and Ruth also chose to make their ceremony personal with a celebrant and personal, heartfelt vows that were aboslutely perfect.
Post-ceremony, guests mingled and tucked into a delicious spread of traditional Sri Lankan food, packed with flavour and all gluten-free (big win for me!) While everyone chatted and chilled, I took the chance to back up some footage and prep for the evening shots.
Speeches kicked off and the bride took the mic, I love it when brides take the opportunity to speak on their day. There's something powerful and really personal about it. Following his wife, Alex gave the kind of speech that makes everyone stop what they’re doing and just listen. It was honest, beautifully delivered and so full of admiration for Ruth.
After everyone enjoyed a delicious wedding breakfast, golden hour rolled around and it was time for some more couple portraits. And yes, their dog Mackey joined in which was incredible.
Then came something I’ve never filmed at a wedding before! Cricket. Yep. Cricket. Guests got involved, the vibe was top tier… and I got hit with the ball. Occupational hazard, I guess? Worth it entirely.
Before hitting the dance floor, I managed to sneak in some dessert (still gluten-free, still delicious). On came the Kaylee band, which brought big energy and got everyone moving, whether they knew the steps or not!
After a packed day full of love, laughter, lanterns and line dancing, I headed back down South. Memory cards full, heart full and I was already buzzing to get stuck into the edit.
Thanks so much Ruth & Alex for having me capture your day. You two absolutely smashed it and I loved being a part of it!
