Aimee & Kate's Wedding Day at Firle Place, Sussex

Every wedding I film is special, but Aimee and Kate’s celebration at the stunning Firle Place will always stand out for me. It was the first same-sex wedding I’ve had the privilege of capturing and they were an absolute joy from start to finish.


The morning started in two different places, which always makes things a little exciting (and logistically interesting!) for me. First stop was a friend’s house in Sussex, where Aimee and her Bridesmaids were getting ready. The room was full of that mix of excitement and nerves you always find on a wedding morning. After spending time capturing all the small but important details here, from the dress to the final touches of hair and makeup, I hopped back in the car and made my way to a nearby Airbnb, where Kate and her Bridesmaids were also in full prep mode.



Splitting my time between two preparations is always a balancing act. Making sure I capture enough of both sides while keeping the energy and story flowing naturally, but it’s one of my favourite parts of the day. Having got married myself I know it's also a really exciting part of the video for the couple to see as it's the part of the day they didn't get to experience together.



From there, it was on to Firle Place, a breathtaking venue tucked away in the Sussex countryside. I arrived just in time to get the drone up for some sweeping shots of the ceremony space while the light was hitting perfectly.



The ceremony itself was something truly special. Kate and Aimee’s Bridesmaids walked down the aisle in pairs, followed by Kate’s youngest two children and then her eldest Son, who proudly walked down the aisle with his mum. While Kate waited at the end of the aisle, Aimee made her entrance, arm in arm with her dad. It was a beautiful moment, filled with smiles and tears.



Once the vows were exchanged, the celebration spilled outside for a confetti throw that showered the newlyweds in colour and cheers. Guests mingled on the lawn while the photographers and I whisked the Bridal party away for group shots. With a Bridal party made up entirely of women, the energy was vibrant as you can imagine! It really did make for some amazing footage.



The afternoon rolled on with guests playing lawn games and enjoying drinks in the sunshine. As everyone headed inside for the speeches, we were treated to an incredible line-up! Kate and Aimee each spoke individually, Kate’s eldest Son delivered a heartfelt tribute and both Bridesmaids gave their own touching (and often hilarious) words - if you head over to my instagram you'll catch a verse of Dolly Parton's latest song!



As the sun dipped lower, the evening light turned magical. Guests sipped cocktails, tea and coffee outside while I grabbed Aimee and Kate for golden hour couple shots. The sunset did not disappoint, the colours were the perfect backdrop for those quiet moments.



Then, of course, came the dancing. The band was electric, the dancefloor full and just when I thought the night couldn’t get any more memorable, the star of the show appeared! No joke! They had an ice sculpture shaped like a female bust, with shots poured down for guests to enjoy. It was the perfect, cheeky finale to a day that had been equal parts elegance and fun.



Aimee and Kate’s wedding was everything you could want from a summer celebration. It was beautiful, full of heartfelt feelings and full of moments that made you smile long after you’ve left. I'm so pleased they chose me to be their Videographer.
