Your wedding day will be one of the most memorable days of your life, and having a videographer there to help you tell your love story is a decision you’ll never regret.
To make the most of your wedding video, here are some of my top tips to make sure your wedding film tells the story of your day perfectly.

Give Your Videographer Time in the Morning
A wedding videographer, like a photographer, will be there on your wedding day from start to finish. Depending on the videographer you've chosen to capture your day, they may need time to set up their equipment on the day.
Giving your videographer time to set up for the ceremony is important. Personally, I like to film a ceremony with 3 tripods, so if your ceremony is in a different locations to your getting reading location, ideally I need at least 30 minutes before your ceremony to set up my tripods and mic everyone who will be speaking during your ceremony (including your registrar or vicar, anyone doing readings and you!)
This is particularly something to consider if you are planning any dress reveals in the morning, to make sure you allow plenty of time.

Planning for Drone Footage
If you are hoping to include drone footage of your wedding it's important to consider this beforehand. When you are choosing your venue, ask whoever shows you around what their rules are about drones. Some private venues prohibit use of drones or if there's a military base or airport nearby it can be more difficult to get permission.
I always email the venue prior to your wedding day to confirm any rules and provide any documents they require and will do my best to ensure I can capture this footage on the day.

Ceremony
More and more people are planning unique ways to have their ceremony which I absolutely love, but it is always a good idea to make sure your videographer is aware of everything that is happening!
It's really important to ensure your videographer is aware of who will be speaking during the ceremony, if you are reading personal vows or if you are doing anything special when walking down (or back up) the aisle. There's nothing worse than surprising your videographer and ending up with shaky footage as they run to try and capture the moment.
Make the Most of Your Speeches
A good speech is an important part of your wedding film as it will help tell your love story.
It's a fine line though, you don’t want your speeches to be too long that your guests start to zone out, or so short that they don’t add enough context. An ideal length is 10-15 minutes per speech but remember to adjust this according to how many people are talking so you don't overdo it!
Remember this is your wedding day and you can plan it however you want to. It's totally your choice whether you want to have speeches before the meal or after the meal but please make sure your videographer is aware when they're happening. And don't forget to factor in plenty of time incase speeches overrun.

If you want your wedding videographer to capture your love story and tell it in the most beautiful way, make sure you communicate with them and give them all of the space and information they need. The result will be an incredible memory of your day to relive and cherish for years to come.
