From two kids living in the same street, to husband and wife, Ashlea and Olu have a love story that they celebrated with laughter, tears and a lot of dancing!
The day started at Ashlea’s family home, on the street where they first met, before heading onto the ceremony at St Mary’s Church in Bury St Edmunds. I always love when a bride gets ready in their family home as it really helps me to get to know them. I was able to capture the bridesmaids practising their dance (more on that later), family photos and special moments.
The ceremony took place at the magnificent St Mary’s Church in Bury St Edmunds. Amongst the exchanging of rings and reading their vows, Ashlea and Olu included an extra special addition of presenting a necklace to their daughter. They accompanied this with a poem to show that the day really was about bringing together their beautiful family.
The wedding party moved on to Alpheton Hall Barns in Sudbury for the dancing and fun to begin. Throughout the day, Ashlea and Olu nodded to the way that their day was about more than just connecting two people but also bringing together two communities. There were flags from both the Cayman Islands and Nigeria hanging in the venue to represent the couple’s heritage.
Ashlea and Olu definitely knew how to make an entrance and they absolutely showed this when they entered their wedding breakfast with an absolute bang! We are talking light shows and dancing. It was EPIC. In the evening, Ashlea surprised her new husband with a Nigerian dance alongside her bridesmaids, a moment which took Olu’s breath (and words) away.
